Can You Picture It?

Book to Film adaptations are some of my favorite things to look at. Everyone has had a book they loved be represented in film in a not so lovable way and I used to be really rigid and unforgiving when it came to seeing all the inaccuracies on screen. The Lord of the Rings adaptation really opened up the questions and I started looking at the two mediums for what they are rather than trying to get them to fit the personal vision I had in my head.

There are a lot of things to look at even in just the book or movie so I am going to cover what I can but it probably won’t cover everything possible. There might be more than one post about the same franchise depending on how the obsession hits me.

That being said, I am going to look at film adaptations of books I have read (and the films I have seen) and talk about the good, the bad, and the ugly (I wonder if The Good the Bad and the Ugly has a book or not). I’m not turning this into a film blog but mostly looking at how well things translated and talking about why things are different from the original source. I’m typically not into reading books based on films to be honest and I don’t tend to read them often. There are some exceptions like the Avatar: The Last Airbender books but unless I am super motivated to pick them up I probably will leave it be.
